18 Karat gold plated brooch, Philippine fresh water pearl. The maternal name of Nikki Luna, made into 18 Karat gold plated brooch with Philippine fresh water pearls, written in the cursive handwriting of Luna’s mother. In Philippine national imaginary, the pearl signifies abundance in natural resources that defines a country long subjected to extractive colonial and neocolonial practices.

The care industry "exports labor”— majority are women. Wound Cloth I - XV, 2022. Three 18K liquid gold poured onto porcelain and Twelve white porcelain, sculpted round cloth. Nikki's mother's great - grandmother used the rolled cloth to carry a heavy load of produce to sell. She would then use her earnings to buy school supplies for her eight great-granddaughters. approximately 13.97 x 7.62 each

Steely Bloom, 2022. Eight pieces of Bolo, stainless polished steel. Patterned from the same knife found in Luna’s grandmother’s home. Pre-colonial times, the Bolo was a kitchen tool. When colonizers occupied the Philippines, it became a weapon, used by women to defend their land and their homes. The eight Guerra sisters come from one of the eight provinces to revolt against Spain. Sculpture (Bolo) per piece 57. 7 cm x 6.4 cm
